NCJW Southern Maine believes in tackling issues at their source, seeking solutions that will alleviate the needs of those we serve. The section has hosted programs on opioid abuse, human trafficking, food insecurity, gun violence, reproductive justice, and economic empowerment for women. We have advocated on behalf of Courts Matter to ME in Augusta. Our partners in advocacy have included NOW, the Maine Civil Liberties Union and the Maine Women’s Lobby. We have helped sponsor gubernatorial debates and a summit on women’s economic security.
Members attend the NCJW National Washington Institute every three years. There they mingle with colleagues from across the country, hear from outstanding speakers and grassroots activists, and meet with senators and representatives to discuss policy and social justice issues.
